Alfabeto de Plantas materializou no formato de livro ilustrado um projeto de Bruna Ester Yamashita. Bruna é professora na cidade de Londrina (PR), e com seus alunos e alunas criou na escola uma horta onde são cultivadas plantas que vão da letra A até a letra Z do alfabeto. Todas elas foram desenhadas por mim para este abecedário de plantas para crianças. A obra foi uma das selecionadas no PNLD 2022.
Alfabeto de Plantas is an illustrated book by Editora Verne, which was based on a project that teacher Bruna Ester Yamashita realized with her students. They created a vegetable garden at the school, where plants ranging from the letter A to the letter Z of the alphabet were planted. All of them were designed by me for this plant alphabet for children.
Para criar as ilustrações, busquei inspiração nos rostos que tinha visto no projeto, nas cores dos uniformes, nas imagens das plantas nascendo na horta da escola. Quis que a história tivesse vida própria, mas que também se conectasse com a experiência que a motivou a existir em forma de livro.
To create the illustrations, I looked for inspiration in the faces of the students I had seen in the project pictures, in the colors of the uniforms, in the images of plants growing in the school's vegetable garden. I wanted the story to have a life of its own, but also to connect with the experience that motivated it to exist in the form of a book.
